Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC), the world’s biggest independent chipmaker, announced a $100bn investment in US manufacturing last year.
Nvidia did not reveal which models it would produce in the Arizona plant, but the chips use a customised 4NP process.
Nvidia also said it is working with Foxconn and Wistron to build supercomputer plants in Texas, with mass production expected in the next 15 months, which the company said will create hundreds of thousands of jobs.
The US government has been pushing for more domestic production of semiconductors to reduce the reliance on Asia for key components.
