OpenAI has revealed the advisors that it has appointed to its new nonprofit advisory commission, in a move that it says is designed to “expand its reach and impact”.
The advisors include labour rights activist Dolores Huerta and Monica Lozano, who is on the board of Apple and was previously the president and CEO of the College Futures Foundation.
Also on the commission are Dr Robert K Ross, a health expert who was formerly the president and CEO of The California Endowment, and Jack Oliver, who OpenAI describes as a leader in government, technology, business and advocacy.
The appointments come after OpenAI’s controversial decision to become a for-profit company and amid widespread criticism from employees and others over its decision to abandon its founding non-profit mission.
