TikTok is getting its own version of community notes

Summary
Social media platform TikTok has copied the community notes feature from Twitter, which allows users to provide additional context to posts.
TikTok is calling the feature ‘Footnotes’ and will allow contributors to add relevant information to content.
US users over 18 who have been on the platform for longer than six months and who have not violated community guidelines can apply to be contributors.
Footnotes uses a ranking system whereby footnotes are deemed helpful or not by a selection of users, and only those that are considered helpful are made visible to the community for further voting.
The more footnotes are written and rated on a range of topics, the more intelligent the system becomes.
TikTok plans to roll the feature out in the US for short-form videos over the coming months.
