Apple’s latest environmental progress report reveals that the company’s planet-heating pollution fell by 800,000 metric tonnes last year, a drop of approximately 5% on 2023.
The company states that its global greenhouse gas emissions have fallen by more than 60% over the past decade.
Key areas of improvement have been in procuring renewable energy, designing more sustainable products, and encouraging suppliers to lower their emissions.
Apple seeks to reduce its carbon emissions by 75% and eliminate 90% of related pollution by 2050.
The aims are in line with the Paris Agreement goals to stop climate change.
The company also noted that it used more recycled materials in its production processes, with approximately 80% of the rare earth elements in its products being sourced from recycled sources.
