Hardware company RetroTINK, which facilitates playing retro consoles on modern screens, has announced it will temporarily halt US shipments of its products, due to the Trump administration’s failure to clarify how tariffs on imports will be collected from 2 May.
RetroTINK’s Mike Chi said the potential for delays and lost packages posed too much risk without proper procedures in place.
However, the company expects the situation to be resolved eventually and will resume shipments once it has clarity on prepaying tariffs.
Fangamer, an online retailer which recently delayed pre-orders for a Nintendo Switch game, cited new tariffs targeting manufacturing in China that created uncertainty about the final price of the product.
The Trump administration recently announced broad tariffs on imports and paused these for many countries, but maintains high tariffs on imports from China.
