House Democrats: DOGE is building a ‘master database’ of Americans’ sensitive information
1 min read
Summary
Democratic Representative Gerald Connolly has asked the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) Inspector General to investigate data harvesting activities carried out by the controversial Digital Oversight Group (DOGE).
Connolly claims the group, created by Elon Musk to cut costs and shrink the federal government, is illegally creating a “cross-agency master database” of Americans’ sensitive information.
Data from the IRS, the SSA and voter records in Florida and Pennsylvania has allegedly been consolidated on servers at the US Customs and Immigration Services.
In a separate allegation, Connolly cited testimonies from SSA whistleblowers that DOGE engineers were accessing the agency’s IT systems with multiple laptops, with the aim of combining them into one database.
He warned that such a database would not only pose a significant threat to government cybersecurity, but would also likely violate several privacy laws.
