Language learning app Duolingo will add a chess course to its curriculum to engage its user base.
The new course will use puzzles and the ability to play full games to teach users how to play, with lessons catering to all skill levels.
The course will start in beta testing on iOS in English in the next month or so, with an Android launch and lessons in other languages to follow at a later date.
Duolingo also plans to monitor user feedback and performance to see if it adds other games to its curriculum in the future.
The move follows the recent launch of a paid math feature to help reinforce arithmetic, and the purchase of a music learning app to add a musical education option.
