Meta has confirmed that a number of employees from its Reality Labs division have been laid off, although the number affected has not been disclosed.
Teams working on gaming division Oculus Studios and on hardware have been impacted, with sources suggesting that this will affect the development of VR fitness title Supernatural, which Meta acquired for over $400m.
The company claims, however, that its investment in mixed-reality experiences will remain unaffected, and it vows to continue to deliver content for the Quest and Supernatural communities.
Meta’s smart glasses with Ray-Ban have been performing better than expected, but Quest sales are reported to be struggling, with the latest model currently on sale.
