Social media giant Meta is increasing efforts to rid Facebook of spammy content, which it said can hinder the ability of users to have their voices heard.
As part of the measures, Meta will limit the reach of users who create duplicate accounts to share spam content, and will render them ineligible for monetisation.
The company will also reduce the visibility of comments that are identified as fake engagement, and is testing a feature that allows users to flag unhelpful comments.
The new rules also prohibit posts with captions that are unrelated to the accompanying image, and will limit the reach of these accounts.
Meta said the changes are designed to stop “gameplay” around distribution and monetisation.
