Microsoft launches Recall and AI-powered Windows search for Copilot Plus PCs

Summary
Microsoft has released its new Recall feature for all Copilot Plus PCs, alongside an improved AI-powered Windows search interface and Click to Do, similar to Google’s Circle to Search.
Recall was originally scheduled for launch in June 2022, but was delayed due to privacy and security concerns.
The feature takes screenshots of everything the user does on a Copilot Plus PC, with the snapshots then categorised to make it easier to search for content via vague memories rather than file names.
It is designed to improve the user experience, but also creates a privacy minefield, necessitating careful management of blocked apps and websites.
Microsoft has overhauled the security of Recall, which is now an opt-in experience.
Alongside Recall, Microsoft has upgraded Windows search to facilitate natural language queries, so users can search for features using descriptions rather than file names or dates.
Click to Do allows users to summarise text or remove objects from an image using a Windows key + mouse click activation.
The text actions element of Click to Do is currently only available on Qualcomm-powered devices, with AMD- and Intel-powered PCs due to receive it in the coming months.
