Gmail gets a slider on Android tablets, AI on the side

Major updates to Gmail on Android and iOS devices were announced by Google this week, providing enhanced customisability for tablet and foldable device owners and bringing features such as the ability to drag dividers to adjust the size of different elements within the app, the option to switch to a single-pane view, and the ability to save, copy or insert generated images into emails.
The update will also bring Google’s Material Design 3 update for Gmail on iOS, bringing the design of the app in line with the Android and web versions, and enabling the creation and modification of birthday events in Google Calendar on iOS, as is currently possible on Android devices.
Finally, Google has also rolled out its AI-powered Gemini image generator to Gmail on both iOS and Android, allowing users to create images, save them, and insert them into email drafts.
All the new features are available for both business and personal Google accounts.
