Google Play Games might be headed to the graveyard

Google is said to be merging the functionality of its Play Games service into the core Play Store app for Android, according to reports.
This comes after APK teardown specialist AssembleDebug spotted that while the user interface of Google Play Games has not been updated for some time, new features are being developed for the Play Store.
These include the ability to create gamer profiles and the facility to “follow” other players, features that are currently available in Google Play Games.
It signals the possible demise of the standalone Google Play Games app, which has not been updated for some time.
It is not the same as the Google Play Games service for PC, which allows users to play select Android games on their Windows computers.
