Summary

  • DJI has announced the end of life of its final two Phantom drones, the Phantom 4 Pro and Phantom 4 Advanced, more than seven years after production of the drones ceased.
  • Support will be suspended for the two drones on 1 June 2025.
  • While DJI was not the first company to produce off-the-shelf flying quadcopter cameras, the Phantom was one of the first ready-to-fly models adopted by both consumers and video production professionals, with the silhouette of the drone becoming a recognisable symbol for drones more widely.
  • With DJI now producing other brands such as the Inspire, Mavic, Air, Mini and Flip, it appears the company no longer needs the Phantom brand.
