SAP integrates Databricks to enhance AI readiness with new Business Data Cloud

Summary
Software giant SAP has launched Business Data Cloud, a new SaaS product that helps teams to enrich their SAP ecosystem data with external data from other sources.
It is the result of a collaboration with data ecosystem major Databricks and offers a lakehouse architecture to help teams to create a harmonised data foundation for advanced AI agents and analytical workloads.
SAP’s Business Technology Platform previously offered a ‘datasphere’ that allowed enterprises to link SAP with non-SAP systems and use SAP analytics cloud and other internal tools for downstream applications.
SAP is embracing lakehouse architecture to provide a unified foundation that combines all of its data products, from finance and supply chain data to learning and talent data.
Databricks’ native integration means users can access all their data in one place and work directly with data engineering, data science and other tasks on top of the BDC.
Data sharing and ecosystem openness are the company’s first design principles, and it plans to expand to other data platforms via its partner connect capabilities.
