Montreal-based healthcare start-up Paperplane Therapeutics has secured $1.5m in funding to boost its virtual reality (VR) therapies for treating patients with pain and anxiety.
Investissement Québec and Glen Ventures led the investment round, which will enable the company to expand distribution of its VR therapeutics across North America and Europe.
The platform offers patients therapeutic VR experiences to help manage pain and anxiety, with a focus on the dentistry sector.
According to company research, up to 36% of dental patients experience anxiety, while a further 22% will delay appointments until their pain becomes unbearable.
“Today, I’m proud to see our VR technology filling that gap, providing healthcare professionals with a more effective way to support their patients,” said Jean-Simon Fortin, CEO of Paperplane Therapeutics.
