Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 Sonnet takes aim at OpenAI and DeepSeek in AI’s next big battle
1 min read
Summary
Anthropic has launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) model, Claude, which allows users to control the amount of time the system takes to formulate a response, in a challenge to OpenAI, DeepSeek and the AI industry more broadly.
The model will enable businesses to use the same AI model for both simple and complex tasks, doing away with the need for multiple systems, while also giving users the ability to adjust the AI performance based on the task at hand.
Alongside Claude, Anthropic also launched Claude Code, a command-line AI coding agent.
The development comes after DeepSeek’s recent emergence, which caused 17% of Nvidia’s stock value to disappear in one day due to its advanced AI reasoning capabilities achieved through far less computing power than was thought necessary.
Now, Anthropic is pushing into the enterprise AI market, betting that its nuanced, hybrid model will give it an edge.
