AI still has a hallucination problem: How MongoDB aims to solve it with advanced rerankers and embedding models
1 min read
Summary
Data optimisation company MongoDB has acquired Voyage AI, a privately-held company that specialises in generating and retrieving datasets for artificial intelligence (AI).
While MongoDB’s database platform is already used in retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, the deal with Voyage AI will improve the quality of its retrieval capabilities.
Voyage AI’s technology is expected to enhance MongoDB’s performance in AI-powered search and retrieval through improved accuracy, as well as customised retrieval mechanisms, to counteract the potential risk of hallucinations within gen AI.
Currently, competition between database vendors to create the most optimised embedding and retrieval models to generate the most accurate results for customers is high.
Voyage AI’s models will continue to be available to existing users, as well as being integrated into MongoDB’s database platforms.
