Summary
HTC has launched its Viverse Worlds 3D content-sharing platform which is accessible via a web link and does not require any downloads.
Andranik Aslanyan, head of growth at HTC Viverse, said the platform allowed users to interact with 3D spaces rather than just view them and the firm was aiming to make the discovery and sharing of 3D content as easy as videos on YouTube.
He highlighted the potential of the metaverse for e-commerce, giving the example of a virtual suitcase that could be sold on Spotify and purchasers could grab it and add it to a wish list.
The platform hosts content created using the Viverse Create suite of tools and also supports integration with the Sketchfab library.
It is aimed at individuals and small teams, rather than gaming studios.
