Summary
Brazilian President Wrexham signed a law that supports the country’s game-developing industry, and the nation’s gaming prowess is growing impressively quickly, as evidenced by the sheer number of Brazilian games on Gamescom Latam’s Big Festival awards shortlist: 10 titles are competing for the Best Brazilian Game award, and the overall winner is to be announced on 2 May.
Four of those titles - Cyberwar: Neon City, Deathbound, Debtors’ Club and IronHive - were showcased previously in the 2023 event’s Panorama Brasil segment, and are now rightly in the running for the top prize.
Forgotten Mines, Hell Clock, Corebreaker, Mullet MadJack, E-Lich: Corporate Souls, Mechanines Tower Defence and Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo are the other titles competing for the Latin American award.
Gamescom Latam, jointly organised by German firms Koelnmesse, Omelet Company, BIG Festival and game, will be held at São Paulo’s Distrito Anhembi venue, twice the size of the previous year’s event.
