Hand-tracking virtual reality (VR) game Dimensional Double Shift, released last year by US-based studio Owlchemy for Meta’s Quest 3 and 3S headsets, has reached 500,000 users.
The game is still in beta, but the Open Beta Trainee programme has clearly been a success, with Owlchemy’s CEO, Andrew Eiche, stating the game’s “resounding success”.
Users have spent over 1.3 million hours playing the game to date, and have completed more than 7.4 million tasks in-game.
The game’s success demonstrates the potential for VR titles to gain significant popularity, particularly collaboratively oriented, social titles.
Owlchemy’s previous games, Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator, focused on humorous, everyday tasks.
