Canada-owned Ludia plans to add 50 new jobs and make acquisitions

Montreal-based mobile game maker Ludia has been bought back from Los Angeles-based Jam City by a group of Canadian investors, allowing Ludia to become independent once again and expand its business.
The mobile game studio will be able to grow independently with plans to hire more staff and possible acquisition opportunities,olidifying Montreal’s position as a leading global gaming hub.
The company’s headquarters are in Old Montreal where it currently employs 130 staff, but new CEO Jimmy Gendron plans to hire 50 new workers in the next year, with some new jobs in gaming functions to boost employee morale.
Ludia was founded in 2007 and has developed more than 50 games, including How to Train Your Dragon and Jurassic World, which together have grossed more than $1.3bn in revenue and attracted more than 500m downloads.
