Summary
Stars Reach is a new sandbox science fiction Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter and in development by Californian company, Playable Worlds.
The company believes the title will be the “most alive game world ever made” allowing players to explore and sculpt a galaxy of unique, evolving planets.
The goal is to create a game that isn’t reliant on frequent updates, instead implementing cloud-native technology so it’s possible to make changes in the game while it’s operating in the cloud, often within minutes or hours.
Though in its pre-alpha testing phase, the game is already showing positive results, with a net promoter score of 80, and is expected to be in beta by the end of the year, with a proposed official launch in the first half of 2026.
The most recent investment of $25m (£19m) was secured in 2022.
