Summary
The Global Entertainment Marketing Academy of Arts & Sciences (GEMA), originally Promax, is to revive its Game Marketing Awards ceremony, which has not been held since 2018.
GEMA awards will recognise the achievements of those working in game marketing, and the role they play in engaging consumers.
CEO and president of GEMA, Stacy La Cotera, said the event was important to celebrate during a time of studio closures and mass redundancies in the games industry.
The awards ceremony will be the first under the GEMA banner after the company received the rights back from Promax.
La Cotera said marketing was increasingly important as it interweaves different forms of entertainment, using gaming to extend narratives across movies, TV and music.
The LA-based group aims to support and empower those in entertainment marketing, creating opportunities for professionals to grow, connect and inspire innovation.
