Indie game development studio Welevel announced it had raised $5.7m in series A funding to transform procedural game development using AI.
The round was led by Bitkraft Ventures, and will be used to expand the team and its innovative AI tools that streamline game development and create dynamic personalised gameplay.
CEO Christian Heimerl said the studio was driven by passion not monetisation, and its AI technology innovations include world-building, NPC behavior and quest generation through algorithms to allow adaptive storytelling.
The studio is currently working on a triple-A sandbox survival game which uses the technology to create a living, breathing world which adapts to player actions, remembering the context of actions and assisting players in achieving their goals.
It plans to expand into user-generated content and other genres in the future.
