Summary
The twelve most popular video games of all time have been announced ahead of their potential induction into the World Video Game Hall of Fame later this year.
The titles, which include the likes of Call of Duty, Age of Empires and Angry Birds, were chosen from a longlist of finalists and nominees across various categories which are selected based on their popularity, icon status, geographical reach and influence on other forms of entertainment.
Members of the public are now being encouraged to vote for their favourite via the Player’s Choice ballot, with the three most popular names to be considered alongside ballots from an international selection committee before the final inductees are announced on May 8th.
The games must meet the criteria of icon status, longevity, geographical reach and influence on the design and development of other games.
