Players tend to like games that give them rewards, Almedia study shows

US and UK mobile gamers are 76% more likely to recommend a game that offers real-word rewards for playing, according to a survey by US and UK mobile gaming company Almedia.
The study, the second part of one on incentivising gamers, analysed responses from 2,003 people who had received either “real-world” or “in-game” rewards.
Of those who were given tangible rewards, such as cash or gift cards, 71% said they played more of the game, while 72% said they took such rewards into account when trying out new games.
The findings indicate gamers’ evolving preference for rewarded gameplay and could provide a competitive advantage to developers who utilise reward-based user acquisition campaigns.
“What we are currently seeing is a real-time transformation in how gamers choose what they play based on rewards,” said Moritz Holländer, Almedia CEO.
