Summary
Cohere, a Canadian AI start-up, has developed Command A, its latest generative AI product, which has been designed with enterprise applications in mind.
Building on the company’s previous Command-R and Command R+ offerings, Cohere’s new model incorporates retrieval-augmented generation and external tool use to improve efficiency.
Key features of the model include support for 23 languages, including significant improvements in Arabic responses, and the generation of verifiably accurate responses.
According to the company, Command A matches or outperforms competitors such as OpenAI’s GPT-4o and DeepSeek-V3 in business and STEM tasks, requires only two GPUs for operation, and is 1.75 times faster than GPT-4o and 2.4 times faster than DeepSeek-V3.
Cohere has made the model available on its platform, as well as in open weights for research use only on Hugging Face.
