Epic Games has claimed that Apple and Google are acting in a monopolistic manner with their 30% fees for in-app purchases via iOS and Android devices respectively.
This stance has now been supported by Samsung Electronics, which has reduced its charge to just 20% for games on its Galaxy Store, whilst also offering an 80% revenue share to developers.
In a further move to enhance its gaming offerings and attract developers, in November 2024 Samsung also commercialised its mobile cloud gaming platform in North America, providing developers with new ways to reach millions of Galaxy device owners whilst allowing players to instantly play games without waiting for downloads.
This cloud gaming platform also offers a new cloud-based attribution solution in conjunction with major mobile measurement partner (MMP) providers, enabling developers and publishers to attribute an ad click and resulting gameplay in the cloud as an app install.
