Summary
AI-centred interactive storytelling company Operative Games has come out of stealth mode having secured financial backing from investors 1AM Gaming, Samsung Next and LongJourney.vc.
The company lets players converse with life-like AI characters that form emotional connections and enable players to solve problems and navigate storylines.
Operative Games was established by former Disney R&D head Jon Snoddy, Pandora Media founder Jon Kraft and games industry veteran Pegi Bryant.
It is supported by its StoryEngine platform, which allows developers to build characters with a narrative and an understanding of how to lead players through the story while maintaining full player flexibility.
The company debuted a small glimpse of its first story, The Operative, at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, where players call a character named Enya who asks for help and draws them into her world.
