Generative AI large language models offer a new means of data protection for companies, according to Orion Security, which has emerged from stealth mode with $6m in seed funding led by Pico Partners and FXP.
The company’s platform connects to cloud services, browsers and devices to map data flows and uses AI to learn and map an organisation’s business processes in order to distinguish between legitimate workflows and potential threats.
Data exfiltration is on the rise, costing companies an average of $5.21m per incident, and traditional data protection tools are too reliant on rigid rules and manual policies to deal with the problem, according to Orion’s CEO, who added that his company’s platform understands business processes and data flows in order to automate data loss prevention.
Orion’s AI is further tuned to the industry and organisation-specific data to improve accuracy, and the company’s UI allows users to see data flow at a glance and assess potential threats quickly.
