Summary
Self-driving car developer Cruise, owned by General Motors (GM), has partnered with Nvidia to use the AI chipmaker’s technology to develop and deploy autonomous vehicles.
As part of the deal, Nvidia will supply its Drive hypervisors, which allow multiple vehicles systems to run on a single chip, to Cruise, providing an “order of magnitude increase in the complexity of testing” through allowing dozens of complex prototypes to be tested and validated in parallel.
Cruise will also use Nvidia’s Omniverse 3D design platform to create digital twins of its fleet of more than 100 self-driving Chevy Bolts.
“This will enable us to virtually test and validate thousands of hardware and software configurations, allowing us to safely and rapidly develop and deploy autonomous vehicles at scale,” said a Cruise spokesperson.
