Summary
Chipmaker Nvidia has partnered with industry leaders including Cisco, T-Mobile and Mitre to develop 6G wireless communication incorporating artificial intelligence (AI).
Representing an “unprecedented opportunity” to integrate AI from the outset of 6G development, the project will develop AI-native wireless network architecture, hardware and software.
The partners aim to create a network providing enhanced services for billions of users that offer more efficient data transmission over given bandwidth, and create new revenue streams for telecoms companies.
95% of telecom companies are reportedly engaging with Nvidia on the project, which includes building on the Nvidia AI Aerial platform to develop an AI-native wireless network stack.
The project will also aim to ensure AI is embedded deeply into the network stack’s software, to run on a unified accelerated infrastructure.
