Summary
The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has created the Accessible Games Initiation, which has the support of gaming firms including Microsoft, Google, Ubisoft and Nintendo.
The scheme aims to offer consumers clear information on the accessibility features in video games, such as textual descriptions, large subtitles and voice-operated options.
ESA president Stanley Pierre-Louis said the industry is “immensely proud” to be supporting the initiative, and it is a demonstration of how “we can be impactful” by working together.
Players will be able to see tags demonstrating the accessibility features of games via company websites and product information pages.
Tags will be launched in US English with a roll out timeframe determined company-by-company on a voluntary basis.
