Summary

  • The Game Developers Conference (GDC) took place in San Francisco last week, drawing a similar number of registered attendees as in 2022, at almost 30,000.
  • The five-day event is the world’s largest and longest-running event dedicated to games and gave attendees the chance to attend sessions and network with those in the industry, with 1,000+ speakers across 750 sessions, workshops and roundtables.
  • It also included the first GDC Nights after-hours event and the introduction of the Travel Together programme to help attendees to network through walking groups and the GDC Safety phone line.
  • There were also multiple expansion programmes to improve access to GDC content such as the Equal Opportunity Attendance Programme, which offers 1,000 complimentary GDC Expo passes to those who would otherwise be unable to attend due to financial constraints.
  • It also provided all Independent Games Festival finalists with travel stipends and prize money for the winners.
