Summary
Game developer Eidos-Montreal has announced it is to make 75 people redundant, stating that it “does not have the capacity” to reallocate the staff to other projects.
The developer had previously made layoffs in 2021 during a restructure of its parent company, Embracer.
At the time, Embracer announced it was splitting its operations into three separate entities, including Middle-earth Enterprises and Friends, to which Eidos-Montreal was assigned.
The developer is currently only known to be working on Fable jointly with Playground Games, having launched Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy as a primary developer last year.
The layoffs are the latest in a series across the games industry in recent months, with Square Enix, Blizzard, and Microsoft also making cuts.
