Dragon Snacks Games will build ‘third places’ for young gamers

Summary
Dragon Snacks Games has come out of stealth mode, with a mission to create joyful, community-centred gaming experiences where players can both play and create their own social hubs.
The company was founded by industry veterans Jen MacLean, who worked with Xbox, Amazon and IGDA; Michelle Menard, who worked with Oxide Games, Zynga and Firaxis; and Chris Nemcosky, who worked with Scopely and Backflip.
They plan to innovate and redefine the way games are played with inclusive worlds and third places designed for connection, collaboration and creativity.
Dragon Snacks was developed in response to the mass layoffs that have been hitting major gaming studios, with smaller companies struggling to keep up with the larger studios.
At the same time, younger players are looking towards social media platforms such as TikTok and Discord for their entertainment, in preference to gaming.
The company is focusing on smaller, sustainable teams, with an emphasis on player-driven content and a belief that games can be the next generation of social hubs to engage younger players.
