Summary
American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) is using artificial intelligence (AI) to spot malicious behaviour and improve efficiency, according to its chief information security officer, David Levin.
Levin is building a governance framework for the company’s AI deployment, embedding security and curbing shadow AI and adapt to local privacy rules to ensure systems meet consistent standards.
The travel company is blocking unapproved AI platforms at its network edge and using data loss prevention tools to stop staff uploading sensitive content to outside platforms.
He also partnered with legal and compliance teams early on to avoid privacy, IP and other issues arising later.
Levin advised firms starting an AI journey to build clear frameworks, policies and risk assessment criteria early on to deploy the technology responsibly.
