In an in-depth interview with VentureBeat, Philips explained how the shift to Zero Trust had enabled the company to enjoy a 35-fold drop in security events and save millions by removing outdated hardware.
The Zero Trust model also gave 27,500 NOV users policy-based access to thousands of internal applications, while also bolstering the security team’s visibility and protection.
NOV also bolstered its security by strengthening identity defences and infusing AI into its security operations.
The firm’s security team is now using AI to perform threat hunts more quickly, while also using AI bots to help non-technical staff query data.
Philips advised other CIOs and CISOs to recognise that digitisation and security transformation must go hand in hand, to focus on identity and access, and to embrace AI in order to stay ahead of attackers who are also using the technology.
