Zencoder buys Machinet to challenge GitHub Copilot as AI coding assistant consolidation accelerates

Coding platform Zencoder has acquired Machinet, which has more than 100,000 downloads in the JetBrains ecosystem, for an undisclosed sum, giving Zencoder a stronger presence in the AI coding assistant landscape.
Zencoder’s CEO said the deal reflected the realities of competing amongst tech giants, as acquiring startups with technical expertise to bolster offerings becomes a necessity.
Zencoder plans to integrate Machinet’s technology to offer enhanced capabilities through its proprietary Repo Grokking technology and AI agents.
Machinet’s customers will be invited to transition to Zencoder’s platform, which the company said offered “enhanced capabilities through its proprietary Repo Grokking technology and AI agents”.
