Registered users and subscribers can download the New York Times Games app to add fellow solvers to their leaderboard, with the rollout taking place over the next few weeks.
celebrities including actor Chris Perfetti, jazz singer Laufey and actresses Lola Tung, Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan, are among the dedicated puzzlers who will be added to the leaderboard, allowing users to see how they measure up.
From May 8, solvers will be able to add the celebrities to their leaderboards on a first-come-first-served basis, with only the first 100 solvers able to participate.
New York Times Games was originally launched in 1942, and since then has expanded to include a range of puzzles including the Mini Crossword, Spelling Bee and Wordle.
