Summary
Game studio JOGO, owned by popular YouTuber Typical Gamer, which has more than 30 million followers, has acquired RHQ Creative, a builder of training maps for gameplay of Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) games.
RHQ, run by pro Fortnite player Quinn Gannon, has more than 500,000 followers and its maps have had more than 200 million hours of play time.
The acquisition will enable the company to tap into experts and develop a Pro line of maps in Fortnite, as well as expand its business to include a competitive player versus its current casual players.
Following the acquisition, the company said it will look to expand further into user-generated content (UGC) and build gaming IP.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but a spokesperson said the deal was worth $500,000 and included three RHQ employees and a dozen-strong contractor roster.
