Istanbul-based mobile games studio TaleMonster Games has raised $7m in a recent funding round led by General Catalyst, with participation from A16z Speedrun, Arcadia and Ludus Ventures.
The team is made up of Peak Games veterans who have created their own company to develop puzzle games with a focus on depth and creativity.
CEO Irem Sumer said the company is aiming to create puzzle games that evolve with the player and are not predictable.
The studio’s first game, Match Valley, combines match-3 and tower defence gameplay, and has seen 50% day-one retention with users playing for an average of 52 minutes per day.
Following the raise, the company plans to double its current 17-strong headcount.
